Condom

This animated explainer provides clear, step-by-step instructions on how to properly use a condom. Given the crucial role condoms play in preventing both unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), the video aimed to show the process and build confidence in correct usage.

The objective was to deliver essential sexual health information in an accessible, non-intimidating, and practical manner for a broad audience.

As part of the wider contraception series, this video adhered to the established clear and minimal 2D design language. I focused on clean lines, simple iconography, and direct visual cues to illustrate each stage of condom application.

The animation is designed to be highly functional and informative, removing any potential awkwardness from the subject matter through a direct and professional visual approach.

Challenges & Creative Decisions

One of the primary challenges was to depict a sensitive and potentially explicit topic in a way that was medically accurate yet entirely appropriate and comfortable for a diverse audience.

To overcome this, I relied heavily on simplified, outline illustrations of body parts and objects rather than detailed or graphic imagery. This strategic decision allowed for clear communication of the mechanics of condom usage without causing discomfort or distraction.

Another creative decision involved breaking down a multi-step process into easily digestible visual sequences. Each step of condom application was presented as a distinct, clear animation, using visual cues like arrows and highlights to guide the viewer.

The consistent 2D style and established visual language from the contraception series ensured a smooth flow and immediate recognition for viewers familiar with the other episodes, making this crucial information feel straightforward and empowering.
