Condom Size

This explainer animation was designed to clearly and comfortably walk viewers through the process of choosing the right condom size, an often overlooked but essential topic in sexual health. To maintain both clarity and cultural sensitivity, I avoided realistic 3D modelling altogether. Instead, I used stylised illustrations and line-based graphics, which allowed me to communicate anatomical concepts in a clean, schematic way that feels approachable and non-explicit.

The animation was created entirely in After Effects, with simple loops, motion design, and annotations helping to break down each step, from how to measure properly, to recognising whether a condom is too tight or too loose, and choosing between different thicknesses and lubricants.

Challenges & Creative Decisions

  • Visualising a sensitive topic in a respectful way:
Showing anatomy without crossing lines was the biggest creative challenge. I needed visuals that were clear enough to teach, but modest enough to be widely acceptable. The use of abstracted line art and minimal detail helped achieve this balance.

  • Avoiding discomfort while maintaining usefulness:
The video’s tone and style were designed to keep the viewer engaged without embarrassment. This meant using neutral colours, inclusive language, and soft motion to create a learning environment that felt safe and normal.

  • Fighting stigma through tone and accessibility:
By keeping the content straightforward and stigma-free, the animation aimed to help normalise conversations about condom sizing, particularly in contexts where sexual health education can be limited or avoided entirely.
