Contraceptive implants
This explainer animation details the process of fitting a contraceptive implant and explains how it effectively prevents pregnancy. Given that implants are a long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) method, the video aims to provide a clear, reassuring overview for potential users, covering both the insertion procedure and the mechanism of action.
The objective was to explain the implant, making it more accessible and understandable for individuals considering this birth control option.
As part of a comprehensive series on contraception, this animation maintains a consistent 2D graphical style, characterised by clean lines, a simple colour palette, and direct visual representations.
I focused on visually breaking down the medical procedure into manageable steps, using diagrams and symbolic imagery to illustrate the process of fitting the implant and its hormonal function within the body.

Challenges & Creative Decisions
One of the primary challenges was to depict a medical procedure in a way that was accurate and informative without being graphic or off-putting. To achieve this, I opted for simplified anatomical diagrams and stylised representations of the procedure.
This allowed for clear communication of the method’s application while maintaining a comfortable and professional tone suitable for a broad audience.
