Contraceptive pills
This animated explainer provides essential information on how contraceptive pills should be used correctly to prevent pregnancy. The video aims to demystify daily usage, address common questions, and highlight crucial aspects like timing, missed pills, and the impact of other factors.
As a vital component of comprehensive reproductive health education, the objective was to deliver accurate, practical guidance in an accessible and easy-to-understand format, empowering individuals to use this method effectively and confidently.
As part of the broader series on contraception, this explainer maintains the established clear and minimal 2D design language.
I focused on clean illustrations of pill packets, anatomical elements (where relevant and simplified), and visual cues for daily routines, ensuring the information is presented directly and without unnecessary complexity. The animation is designed to be highly instructive, translating complex medical guidelines into simple, actionable steps.

Challenges & Creative Decisions
One of the main challenges was to present detailed, prescriptive information, like daily timing and protocols for missed pills in a way that was engaging and not overwhelming.
To achieve this, I used clear step-by-step visual breakdowns, coupled with intuitive iconography (such as clock faces for timing or pill pack visuals) to guide the viewer through each instruction. The 2D animation allowed for precise control over the flow of information, making complex medical advice easily digestible.
Another creative decision involved maintaining a neutral and non-judgmental tone appropriate for discussing contraception. The visuals and narrative were kept direct and factual, focusing purely on education.
The consistent design language from the contraception series ensured visual familiarity, reinforcing trust and allowing viewers to quickly grasp the new information within a recognised, reliable framework. This approach helped to make the video a valuable, straightforward resource for individuals managing their reproductive health.
